Sony Launches HD BRAVIA Series

Consumer Electronics Aug 17,2007 0

Expanding Sony's full high-definition (HD) televisions are the latest BRAVIA X and W series with new and advanced features for the utmost picture quality.

Sony Electronics Asia Pacific introduces the latest additions to its full HD television range with the new BRAVIA X and W series including Sony's largest full HD 70" BRAVIA X series television, together with the new HD-ready (WXGA) BRAVIA D series. Leading Sony's full HD television range is the new BRAVIA X series powered by Sony?s premium BRAVIA Engine PRO for optimal 1080p image by recreating high resolution images even with SD signals. The new BRAVIA W series is driven by the Sony's developed BRAVIA Engine EX to recreate true-to-life HD quality images even from SD signals.

To achieve higher picture quality, the new BRAVIA X and BRAVIA D series are equipped with Sony's developed Motion Flow technology to reproduce sharper and smooth motion of fast moving objects on the televisions. Also available in these new BRAVIA X, W and D series is Live Colour Creation technology that utilises the new 10-bit panel to faithfully reproduce natural, smooth graduation and vibrant colours. Combined with x.v.Colour (based on new xvYCC international standard) introduced in BRAVIA X and W series for the first time, a wider range of colors can be realized to deliver a richer colour experience. With Sony's Advanced Contrast Enhancer, these BRAVIA televisions can also display fine details even in dim lighting by reproducing finer lines of graduation.

Implemented for the first time, Sony introduces the PhotoTV HD mode in the new BRAVIA X and W series which enables high quality photos that reproduce natural colours of the original photos, allowing one to view HD photos on the large-screen BRAVIA televisions.

"Sony continues to strengthen its leadership in LCD television by delivering the most advanced technologies such as the introduction of PhotoTV HD to this new range of BRAVIA televisions. In addition to offering great picture quality to our customers, Sony has also factored in amazing sound quality and convenient connectivity features for the ultimate home entertainment experience, ?states Hiroshi Kikuchi, General Manager of Display Marketing Group, Sony Electronics Asia Pacific.

Complementing the visual quality, Sony has implemented the unique S-force front surround system in this new range of BRAVIA X, W and D series televisions for a remarkable virtual surround sound with just 2 built-in television speakers. Owners of these new BRAVIA televisions will also find connecting to other devices a breeze with 3 available HDMI PC inputs including 1 HDMI input at the side of the television for easy connection to a Handycam camcorder. The HDMI connection supports Sony's "BRAVIA Theatre Sync" that allows a user to control settings of the entire home theatre system with a one-push feature. To a create a theatre-like atmosphere, Sony has collaborated with Sony Pictures Entertainment on its Theatre Mode to develop and retain the sense of film in its original production by boasting colours in dark areas of the movie and a certain level of ?film grain?.

Available in the following sizes listed, this new range of BRAVIA televisions will be available in the Asia Pacific market from August, with the 70" BRAVIA X series available from end October.
