The U.S. Department of Justice has ended its probe into potential antitrust violations involving graphics chips makers and taken no action, AMD said on Monday. The company said the DOJ had informed AMD and ATI Technologies on Friday that it had closed its investigation into ATI Technologies' pricing and marketing practices in the sale of graphics processing units.

AMD entered the graphics business after acquiring Canadian company ATI Technologies in October 2006. The DOJ started its probe in December 2006, when it issued subpoenas to AMD and Nvidia.
