Intel Resumes Take Over Talks With Altera: Paper
Intel and Altera have resumed talks on a possible acquisition deal, the New York Post reported.
Earlier discussions on a deal fell through as the companies were unable to agree on a price, according to April reports. Those reports suggested that a potential deal could top $10 billion, making it Intel's biggest acquisition ever.
The NYT expects an outcome in a few weeks.
Acquiring Altera may help Intel defend and extend its server chip business. Sales at Intel’s data-center division rose 19 percent in the first quarter as Internet companies such as Google and Facebook built out their server operations.
