Torrent Paradise Decentralized Search Engine For Torrents Launched

Torrent Paradise Decentralized Search Engine For Torrents Launched

Enterprise & IT Jan 21,2019 0

A new version of the Torrent Paradise site uses the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) to provide decentralized torrent searching.

By using decentralization, search results can be shared between large numbers of systems, helping with performance, stability and privacy.

If a website uses IPFS, it remains accessible as long as the computer of one user who "pinned" it remains online.

With IPFS, a copy of the site and the whole index can be distributed just like a torrent. When you open it via IPFS, your IPFS node fetches the parts of the index and website it needs from the network. The public website is simply a public IPFS node.

By using IPFS, Torrent-Paradise makes it far more resistant to blocking and censorship.

While there is a standard version of Torrent-Paradise, the decentralized version needs to be accessed through a gateway such as the one offered by CloudFlare or by installing IPFS.

The team behind Torrent Paradise acknowledges that much of the content on the distributed hash table (DHT) is copyrighted. They say that they comply with "all relevant laws," and that no content is stored on Torrent Paradise, only links to it. "It is not in our capacity to screen the 25000 torrents that we discover every day for copyrighted content," they say.
