NVIDIA contributes on technical skill building

Landmark partnership gives students unprecedented access to next-generation 3D graphics technology NVIDIA and the USC School of Cinema-Television today announced a partnership that will provide students training on cutting-edge 3D graphics technology and the ability to graduate with the necessary skills to compete for highly sought-after positions in filmmaking, visual effects and animation production, real-time content creation, and other interactive industries.

“We welcome the opportunity to enhance the creative excellence of USC School of Cinema-Television students with hands-on technical skills,” said Dan Vivoli, executive vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. “We look forward to watching what the students do with such powerful technology and are expecting this to be the source of great innovation.”

In addition to the technology access, the partnership involves the following:

-NVIDIA will supply education materials and will also send employees to the USC School of Cinema-Television as guest professors for classes and labs in areas such as digital content creation, computer animation, film-quality rendering, editing, visual effects, and games/mobile media
-NVIDIA will sponsor research projects headed by USC School of Cinema-Television students -The USC School of Cinema-Television will facilitate the selection of students for NVIDIA’s internship program

“Technology in the entertainment industry is developing at such a fast pace that we wanted to ensure our students were only working with the top products that leading companies had to offer,” said Richard Weinberg, Research Professor, USC School of Cinema-Television and Annenberg Center for Communications. “This partnership with NVIDIA enables us to consistently put newer, faster, more capable technology in the hands of the students so that they can further push the boundaries of whatΉs possible.”

NVIDIA will provide the school with a variety of products and services, including the latest NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics solutions, copies of NVIDIA’s award-winning Gelato final-frame renderer, and more. NVIDIA is committed to bringing cutting edge products and services to USC film students.
