Portable gaming devices while nowadays becoming more and more powerful, the need for higher running time is always a request from most users. Asus has introduced their first ever gaming device, the Rog Ally with a rather "small" stock battery of 40mAh that gives users more or less up to 1 hour of AAA gaming titles at 20~25Watts, while reducing power consumption did improved running times for less demanding games.

Asus did listen to users complaining and introduced the Asus ROG Ally X featuring an 80Wh battery, which allows for approximately 2.7 hours of heavy AAA gaming or up to 14.5 hours of video playback. This larger battery capacity significantly extends gaming sessions compared to its predecessor, the ROG Ally. Asus made sure that the new battery doesn't fit the "old" Rog Ally models, so are users alone in this area...or not?

While some attempts have already been made by users effort modding laptop batteries to fit into Rog Ally with 74mAh and even up to 90mAh, none of them went into massive product and for this reason, a well-known peripheral manufacturer, JSAUX enters the chat with their latest product, the 65mAh battery upgrade for Rog Ally (1st gen).

The battery has similiar design as the original Rog Ally battery, and has metal holding to secure it at exactly the same positions at the Rog Ally main body.

At the back, there is an aluminum sheet that encloses the battery for better thermal dispassion.

There is also a new backplate, which should be used to avoid cutting the original Rog Ally backplate for the new battery to fit properly.

An aluminum back heat spreader also included for the NVME SSD

Let's now see the main differences between the Rog Ally original battery and the JSAUX Battery upgrade. As you can see there are some visual differences.

The total weight of the Rog Ally original battery is around 155gr while the JSAUX battery upgrade is 249gr. The height of the Rog Ally original battery is 0.95cm, while the JSAUX battery comes at 1.10cm, due to its increased capacity.

The battery plug also comes in a slightly different position but can be installed without any issue.
