Acer Desktop LCD Monitors Grow 87% and Rank No. 4 Worldwide in Q4 2004
Acer announced that they ranked fourth with 6.2% marketshare during Q4 2004 in the worldwide desktop LCD monitor market according to DisplaySearch.
Acer achieved the highest increase among the top five vendors with 87% quarter over quarter, which was well above the industry average of 26%.
Acer jumped from the Q3 2004 rank of No. 6 to the No. 4 spot in Q4 2004 due mainly to significant growth in unit shipments into EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and North America. In the North American market, Acer doubled their marketshare from 1.8% to 3.7% during the quarter to become the 7th leading provider in the region.
Of the mainstream LCD monitor sizes, the 19-inch LCDs grew the most with 47.1% growth over the previous quarter, while the 17-inch category also showed considerable growth rising 39.9% over the same period.
