AMD Threadripper 3000 Models to be Announced on 5th November
The rumors regarding AMD's highly-anticipated 3rd Gen Threadripper CPU launch continue, and Videocardz is certain that there will be three SKUs announced on 5th November.
The website is citing an employee at AMD for its report. It says that AMD will announce the Threadripper 3960X, which is said to have 24 cores, the Threadripper 3970X, which is assumed to have 32 cores, the Threadripper 3980X, which is also speculated at 48 cores and finally the Threadripper 3990X, which will have a massive 64 cores.
The backwards compatibility issue of the new AMD chips remains in doubt. The current X399 motherboards may not support 3rd gen Threadripper CPUs. The new 24 and 32-core models obviously have power requirements that many older X399 motherboards cannot cope.
On November 5th AMD is also said to unveil the TRX40 chipset and motherboard makers will showcase their offerings motherboards.
Intel is also expected to launch next month the Core i9-9900KS (all-core 5GHz boost), as well as the cut-price Cascade Lake-X CPUs.
