Amlogic Launches Next-Gen 6nm SoCs (A123X & C305X2) to Power the Edge AI Ecosystem

Amlogic Launches Next-Gen 6nm SoCs (A123X & C305X2) to Power the Edge AI Ecosystem

Consumer Electronics Sep 15,2026 0

Semiconductor leader Amlogic has officially unveiled two groundbreaking 6nm Systems-on-Chip (SoCs): the quad-core A123X and the dual-core C305X2. Built on TSMC's advanced 6nm process node and featuring Arm’s low-power **Cortex-A320** (Armv9) architecture, these chipsets mark a major leap forward in bringing localized artificial intelligence directly to smart home devices, industrial machine vision, and battery-powered applications.

Key Highlights & Specifications:
First to Market: Amlogic is the first vendor to deploy Arm’s new Cortex-A320 core, delivering a **34% CPU performance boost** over previous-gen Cortex-A35 platforms and up to a **10x uplift in machine learning capabilities** via SVE2 vector extensions.

Dual NPU Architecture for Heavy AI Workloads:
Features an ADLA2 NPU** (up to 4 TOPS) optimized for traditional Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and object detection.
Integrates a dedicated **ADLA3 NPU** (up to 8 TOPS) engineered specifically for hardware-accelerated **Vision Transformers** and compact **Large Language Models (LLMs)** on the edge.

Target Applications:
A123X (Quad-Core):** Built for industrial machine vision, smart dashcams, access control systems, and 4K@60fps video processing.
C305X2 (Dual-Core):** Designed for ultra-low-power, battery-operated smart home gear—such as solar video doorbells and security cameras—supporting always-on video capture and pre-roll functionality.

Availability: Both chipsets are currently sampling to key manufacturing partners, with mass production scheduled for **Q4 2026**.

Why This Matters
It is easy to get desensitized to semiconductor press releases, but Amlogic's latest announcement represents a crucial turning point in consumer tech: **the transition from cloud-dependent AI to seamless, private on-device intelligence.**

1. Real AI in the Devices You Actually Use
For years, "smart" security cameras and home devices have relied almost entirely on cloud servers to recognize a person, a pet, or a package. That pipeline meant subtle delays, monthly subscription fees, and potential privacy risks. By packing up to **8 TOPS of NPU muscle** alongside dedicated Transformer support into low-power 6nm chips, Amlogic is enabling sub-watt devices to run sophisticated vision AI locally. When your video doorbell can recognize family members or interpret complex movement instantly on the device itself—without sending raw footage to a remote server—it changes the user experience from frustratingly delayed to near-instantaneous.

2. The Power Efficiency Win
The choice of Arm's **Cortex-A320** on a **6nm process node** is particularly clever. Ultra-low-power devices like battery-operated or solar doorbells historically struggled under heavy compute loads. Combining an efficient CPU core with dedicated hardware acceleration for machine learning means manufacturers won't have to compromise between long battery life and fast AI processing.

3. Pushing Edge Computing Forward
By becoming the first chip maker to ship Arm's Cortex-A320 architecture and supporting local Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Transformers, Amlogic isn't just catering to high-end set-top boxes anymore—they are positioning themselves as a powerhouse in the broader AIoT (AI + Internet of Things) landscape.

Expect to see quieter, faster, and significantly smarter smart-home and industrial devices hitting store shelves as these chips transition into mass production later this year.
