Android M Developer Preview Available for Xperia Devices
You can now create a test image of Android M Developer Preview and flash that onto any Xperia device in Sony’s Open Device program. The recently released Android M Developer Preview gives developers the tools to prepare for the full Android M release. The developer preview is mainly for app programmers but anyone prepared to take the risk of flashing a new OS onto their device can take the leap.
With Google’s Android M Developer Preview, there are a variety of system changes and some API behavioural changes. This includes a new permission system, where users can directly manage app permissions at runtime.
At this stage, early adopters might still prefer to use a non-essential device for the Developer Preview of Android M.
"It's only available for devices with an unlocked boot loader and comes with some limitations," advised the Sony Mobile blog posting; two of those crucial functions not yet available include the on-board modem for internet access and working camera software.
