Apple To Release New "Gold" iPad Air: report
A new report from Bloomberg came to "confirm" previous rumors that Apple will be adopting the same color palette it uses for iPhones on the next generation iPad Air. New versions of the company’s 9.7-inch iPads, anticipated to be unveiled this month, will include gold as a choice of color for the rear metal cover, adding to the silver and gray available for the lighter iPad Air, Bloomberg reported.
Apple hasn’t introduced a new iPad since last October, and consumers have instead been shifting to iPhones with larger screens, such as Apple’s new iPhone 6 Plus.
So the introduction of a larger iPad could be a milestone for the company. This device, which is set to have a 12.9-inch screen, won’t be introduced until next year.
ABI Research published its latest report into the state of the tablet market on Tuesday. The report says that growth in the sector is at an all-time low of 2.5 percent and while Apple and Samsung are still the world's most popular tablet brands, they are starting to stagnate as cheaper alternatives arrive in stores.
As well as a gold-tone finish, the new iPad Air is expected to feature a faster processor, a special treatment on the screen to make it easier to view when outdoors and the same Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the latest-generation iPhone in order to up security and simply mobile payments.
