Asaca Demonstrates Blu-ray Optical Library

Optical Storage Apr 24,2006 0

This week at NAB 2006, Asaca Corporation, will demonstrate the new TeraCart BD, what it claims is the world's largest Optical Library incorporating Blu-ray technology. With capacities scaling to 72.5TB and random access write speeds up to 72Mbps, the TeraCart BD is an ideal solution for high-performance applications including document and medical imaging, email archiving, enterprise content management, multimedia projects, graphic design, and audio/video editing (including high-definition) and authoring.

Based on new Blu-ray technology, ASACA's TeraCart BD can be easily configured internally to simultaneously manage 50GB recordable, Dual-Layer BD media as well as DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, DVD±R, DVD±RW, CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-R/W media within the same library. In addition, using the built in software, the ASACA library can also be customized to manage multiple virtual libraries within the same cabinet.

"We think the speeds and capacities we're able to offer using Blu-ray technology is a major milestone for optical technology," said Chuck Larabie, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Asaca/ShibaSoku Corporation. ?We are now able to offer our customers unheard of storage performance levels,? continued Larabie, ?The sheer number of companies supporting the Blu-ray format make this technology the de facto optical format now and into the future.

NAB attendees can experience the new TeraCart BD solution and the complete line of TeraCart libraries this week at Asaca's booth #SL2908.

Price/Availability

ASACA's line of TeraCart BD libraries incorporating Blu-ray Disc technology offer scaleable capacities of 12.5TB, 37.5TB and 72.5TB with random access read speeds up to 72 Mbs per Blu-ray drive. Asaca?s TeraCart BD series of libraries are expected to have a starting price of $50,000 and begin shipping in May 2006.
