Asus Launches DVD-RAM Burner

Asus announced on April 1st the DRW-1608P3S, a new DVD burner with DVD-RAM support. The ASUS DRW-1608P3S is DVD±R/RW drive capable of reading data from and writing data on DVD+R/RW/DVD-R/RW/ DVD-RAM formats.

Basic specs:

Max. 16X DVD±R / 8X DVD+RW / 6X DVD-RW / 8X DVD±R (DL)
Max. 40X CD-R / 32X CD-RW
Max. 16X DVD-ROM / 40X CD-ROM
Max: 5X DVD-RAM Write / Read

The drive is based on the Pioneer DVR-111 series and offers an Over-Speed Burning function, which allows recording of 2.4X DVD±R DL discs at 4X / 6X / 8X as well as 8X DVD±R Disc at 16X.



The LCT (Liquid Crystal Tilt) technology provides pick up head accuracy during recording and playback on discs with uneven curvature and thickness. Buffer Underrun Errors Prevention Technology (FlextraLink) prevents users from buffer underrun problems while the FlextraSpeed technology continuously monitors the recording media and sets the optimal writing speeds to ensure best recording quality.

The DRW-1608P3S comes in white, silver and black colors.
