Smartphones May 28,2014 0

The Asus PadFone X hybrid should be available on June 6th for $199 on a two-year contract with At&T, or $23 per month with an 18-month Next payment plan. PadFone X combines both the smartphone and ASUS PadFone Station into a package with easy transitions that lets you choose between two screen sizes dependent on the task at hand.

PadFone X is a 5-inch full HD Android 4.4 (KitKat) smartphone that docks into the included PadFone Station to transform into a 9-inch full HD tablet. Powered by ASUS DynamicDisplay technology, when docked, apps running on the smartphone are resized to fit the ASUS PadFone Station's larger display. PadFone X also features dual front speakers, which includes ASUS SonicMaster technology.

The PadFone X is also equipped with a 13 megapixel, f/2.0 aperture PixelMaster camera. The camera's LowLight Mode increases camera performance during nighttime and in poorly lit scenes. By merging adjacent pixels, the camera increases light sensitivity by and, resulting in clear low-light shots without the need for a flash. In addition, Turbo Burst Mode enables the camera to capture photos at up to 35 frames per second.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, comes with 16GB of on-board storage and a Micro SD slot supporting up to 64GB of additional storage.

The PadFone Station includes a large battery that charges the phone when it is is docked, providing up to two times longer battery life. It also offers Power Matters Alliance (PMA) wireless charging.
