ATEME to Demonstrate MPEG-4 AVC HD Real Time Encoder at IBC 2006
The demonstration will show 1080i video sequences encoded at bitrates ranging from 12 Mbps down to 4 Mbps!
In May 2006, ATEME already demonstrated live HD encoding at a bitrate never before achieved for commercial HD broadcast (5 Mbit/s IP) during the French Tennis Open with the French operator Free. During the following months, the ATEME's R&D team has increased its encoder performance to attain:
-- The same quality level at a lower bitrate of 4 Mbps - designed specifically for applications such as video over ADSL.
-- An enhanced broadcast quality at a bitrate of 6 Mbps - targeting applications such as terrestrial digital TV.
"We have concentrated our efforts on challenging video contents like surfing, basketball or football programs. We have achieved the quality level required by demanding broadcast application at 6 Mbps" says Pierre Larbier, R&D Manager. "Our goal is now to obtain the same broadcast quality at 4 Mbps".
