be quiet Silent Loop 3 420mm
2. Retail Package
The Silent Loop 3 420mm, includes three Silent Loop 140mm fans. The product costs according to the press release $174.90/€174.90/£124.99. The retail package is rather big since this is after all a 420mm AIO and supports many Intel (1851 / 1700 / 1200 / 1150 / 1151 / 1155) and AMD (AM5 / AM4 / TR5 / TR4) platforms. This is something we haven't seen again with supporting TR5/TR5 socket, meaning be quiet! aims for the widest possible socket support.
Opening the box unveils the contents, the CPU cooler is in the middle, and accessories and everything are well organized and protected.
Inside the package, you will find a printed manual for installing the product for both Intel/AMD sockets.
The retail package includes all the needed components (mount mechanism) for AMD/Intel sockets and mounting screws for the 140mm fans and of course thermal paste. There is no fan controller but a 3-in-1 splitter fan cable.
Users should expect to find inside three be quiet! Silent Loop 3 140mm branded fans, that are completely black and are optimized for AIO water coolers.
Lastly, there is also a refill bottle with coolant (100ml), in case you need it, the product does accept refills after many years of use.
The 420 Silent Loop 3 has a big radiator that can fit three 140mm fans. According to its specs, it has 475 x 140 x 52mm dimensions and it's made out of aluminum / black spray paint. Users need to install the three included fans themselves. There are pre-drilled holes to either install the included fans and also install the AIO at your favorite case.
The CPU cooler base/pump is connected to the main body via two tubes with 400mm length. We would like to see a slightly higher length for those big cases, like 450mm. Two cables are coming out from the base/pump, one for ARGB (3pin) and the DC power of course that should be connected to the AIO port of your motherboard. The pump has a different design from the past and we liked this approach since it tends to match what be quiet! has been introduced with the Light Base PC cases.
The cooling block has a 1,800 mm² fin area, which is an increase of up to 2x compared to other AiOs in this class. This of course improves heat transfer and makes sure to cover all hot spots on the CPU. The large fin area could only be achieved by a specially developed screwless design for attaching the heat plate. The internal design of the flow path takes care that all areas are flowed evenly to achieve high performance regardless of the CPU platform. The base also includes a powerful PWM pump with a 3-chamber design. The second of its 3 chambers acts as a reservoir and offers enough space for the coolant to spread out thus reducing turbulences before the liquid leaves the pump unit. In combination with the 6-pole 3-phase motor, this results in a smooth and consequently silent operation. The pump has a 3500rpm rotation however can be also controlled from 1700 - 3500rpm via a 4-pin PWM cable.
The base is made out of copper/nickel plating and also includes a sticker that must be removed before use. The radiator has 457 x 140 x 27mm dimensions.
