BlackBerry To Anounce New Devices at MWC
Blackberry will debut new mobile devices at the Feb. 24-27 Mobile World Congress (MWC) tech fair in Spain, according to the company's manufacturing patner Hon Hai Precision Industry.
"We are working with them (Blackberry) to design a new device, and we will showcase multiple devices at the trade show in Barcelona in February," said Terry Gou, chairman of Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., during the Sunday's opening of the Hon Hai charity festival in Taipei.
Hon Hai's subsidiary FIH Mobile Ltd., has struck a five-year deal with BlackBerry to develop and manufacture new smartphone models.
Gou did not provide any details about the new phones, but they are expected to be available in emerging markets such as Indonesia and Mexico.
BlackBerry is facing plunging sales and mounting losses, as its global smartphone market share shrinks.
