Chi Mei Optoelectronics to Release Super-High Resolution 47" QHD LCD TV Panel
Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), one of the world's leading LCD panel suppliers, has announced plans for a consumer-grade, high-resolution 47" Quad High Definition (QHD, 2560 x 1440) LCD TV panel slated for mass production in Q2 2007.
CMO is now starting a new global trend in flat panel LCDs, as its new 47" panel featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 3.68 million pixel display (2560 x 1440). CMO?s 47" QHD LCD TV panel is 1.78 times bigger than the highest pixel count available for digital TV panel with 2.07 million pixels (FHD, 1920 x 1080), and is 4 times bigger than the 920,000 pixel count for 1280 x 720 HD panels.
Significant changes are in store for the television as we know it ? with the advent of digital TV, the television is moving beyond its traditional role and developing into an integrated, multi-functional digital media center. Recent breakthroughs in digital interface technologies such as HDMI 1.3 will greatly enhance the applications and functions of digital TVs, set top box devices, DVD players, digital cameras, digital video cameras, game consoles and other consumer-level products, while strengthening the overall development of the digital home. With these considerations in mind, CMO has designed its 47" QHD LCD TV panel to support both standard 1080P FHD digital content, as well as the upcoming 1440P specification. Moreover, CMO's new LCD panel will speed up 3C convergence and pave the way for the faster arrival of the digital home.
CMO's 47" QHD panel has a brightness of 450 nits, contrast ratio of 1500:1, color saturation rate of 90% (NTSC) and a response time of 6.5 ms.
