- Conclusion
The Crucial P5 M2 2280 2TB drive is Crucial's proposal for high speed NVME drives aiming for gamers and enthousiasts. The P5 series come in different capacities from 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and of course the 2TB version we tested at this review. The drive comes with advertised speeds of 3.2MB/sec and 3.0GB/sec reading/writing performance, which can be said to be confirmed from our test results. The Crucial P5 2TB NVME SSD will fit at all NVMe slots with little effort from an amateur user. Windows will load much faster and will gain higher speeds even compared with a traditional SSD, when making big file read/write operations
From our test results we found that the drive needs passive or air cooling to perform best and without performance drops. The drive is armed with 5 years of warranty directly from Crucial (or 120TB of data written). Looking at the competition the Crucial P2 2TB has a retail price of ~300Euro, which is rather at the middle point for 2TB NVME drives, and as time passes the drive's price will get even lower. For higher perfomance, Crucial also offers via its the Storage Executive Software the "Momentum Cache",which is essential a memory cache application for boosting performance and reduce wear of the installed NVME.
We have no issue reccomending this drive to all users who wish to get a high capacity NVME drive with very good RMA procedure and high performance.
