DAT Optic announces new series of combo FireWire/USB2.0 enclosures for PC and MAC

Santa Ana, California / DAT Optic Inc., the first company to manufacture a thirty-drive (30) DVD duplicator, and famous internal FireWire convertor has announced a new line of 5.25" enclosure. Speedzter5.

The Speedzter5 is an external portable enclosure that is stylish, elegant and simple.

Speedzter5 can convert any 5.25 inch or 3.5 inch IDE/ATAPI drive to a Combo FireWire and USB2.0 external device. With a size of 24.2 cm x 16.4 cm x 6.14 cm (9.5 in x 6.5 in x 2.4 in), it is smaller than any existing 5.25" enclosure. Our Speedzter5 is a must have for your external device.

The Speedzter5 was designed to answer the need of a device that can be connected to both popular high speed buses: FireWire and USB2.0. This also means converted device can now be hot plugged into PC, MAC and Linux.

Our Speezter5 offers the utmost flexibility and superior performance.

FireWire and USB connectivity:

Speedzter5 comes with the following connectors: FireWire x2, USB2.0 x1 (USB1.1 compatible).

Our Speedzter5 internal circuitry is designed with the Oxford-911 chipset. This provides a fully IEEE 1394a compliant link layer, while integrating the 1394 physical interface (PHY) and fully supporting ATA-100.

Where The USB bridge is based on ISD300A chipset. This provides an EHCI base USB 2.0 compliant solution that insures compatibility with most ATA /ATAPI devices.

Universal configuration

Our Speedzter5 has a built-in configuration which allows end-users to convert any 5.25 inch or 3.5 inch IDE/ATAPI device into a Combo FireWire and USB2.0 drive complian. This converted drive will become a hot pluggable external device under Win98SE, Win2K, WinME, WinXP, MAC OS 8.6 and higher, or even Linux

Superior Performance

Equipped with the Oxford-911 and ISD300A1, our Speedzter5 offers transfer rates of unprecedented 50MB/sec. for firewire and 60MB/sec for USB2.0 respectively. This will allow our Speedzter5 to become stackable and used as a HOT PLUG RAID Storage Level 0, Level 1 or Level 0+1 at up to 80MB/sec or more sustain thru-put.
