FVD cooperates with DataPlay
The Opto-Electronics Systems & Laboratories (OES) of the
government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute signed a memorandum of understanding with US-based DPHI (DataPlay) for cooperation to developing miniaturized FVD (mini FVD) products.
The application of the FVD standard is focusing on consumer
electronics for the time being and will expand into other IT
fields soon, OSE deputy director Der-ray Huang indicated. OSE
plans to introduce DataPlay's cutting-the-edge micro-optical
storage technology to develop mini FVDs, further extending the use of the format to portable consumer electronics, Huang
pointed out.
DataPlay has agreed that the royalty charges for mini FVD products conform to the FVD licensing mechanism to be specified by the Advanced Optical Storage Research Alliance (AOSRA), Huang noted.
