Google Dart Language To Become An ECMA Standard

Google Dart Language To Become An ECMA Standard

Enterprise & IT Dec 13,2013 0

This week Ecma created a new technical committee named TC52 to publish a standard specification of the Dart language - Google's alternative language for Javascript. The TC52 committee will create standards for Dart that developers can all agree to. It will standardize the syntax and semantics of Google's object oriented programming language as well as standardizing core libraries and complementary technologies that support the language.

Google said in its blog post announcing the Dart evaluation committee that it would collaborate with the "broader Web community" on Dart standards via TC52.

ECMA is the standards organization that governs changes to JavaScript, C#, and Eiffel.

Dart is supported by only one browser, and other browser vendors such as Mozilla and Microsoft have expressed reluctance to incorporate it. Google hopes that the standardization process wuould help Dart run natively in all web browsers in the near future. The company says that although Dart apps can be fast when compiled to JavaScript, an embedded Dart VM enables even better performance.
