Japan Display Develops 651ppi 2.3-inch LCD Panel
Japan Display (JDI) has developed a 2.3" LCD prototype featuring a resolution of 651ppi - double that of current high-definition smartphone displays.
The prototype was developed using the LTPS technology.
With a pixel pitch of only 39 microns, this display is free of artifacts, such as jagged lines and characters, which can be seen in displays which use larger pixels. The small pixel pitch also allows for images to be displayed with a resolution comparable to that of film-based photographs.
Japan Display has not yet decided specific applications and products based on the new display.
