
JVC demonstrates new compact-sized HD player with HDV support at BBE 2003, Japan
The International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition held from November 19 to 21, 2003, at the Nippon Convention Center in Chiba City Japan revealed a new portable High Definition player from JVC, supporting HDV playback.
The portable player is able to play back the HD video, which is recorded to mini DV. The device is expected in the Japanese market around January at an estimated price of 200,000. The player supports playback of HDV, can play back HD images with resolutions up to 720/30P as well as SD images of 480/60P.
A 3.5 type liquid crystal monitor is used for easy and quality displaying (200,000 pixels). The player can be powered either through AC power adapter or by the included batteries that offer 1 hour of playback.
The provided outputs are one BNC, and one S-Video. Furthermore the player is equipped with an i. Link terminal, allowing easy connection with digital cameras or PCs. The device will be probably able to communicate with the upcoming Blue-ray disk recorder by Sony.
