Kano Technologies Introduces the X-SPAND PRO SATA II Storage System for Mac and PC

Kano Technologies Introduces the X-SPAND PRO SATA II Storage System for Mac and PC

Enterprise & IT Jan 11,2005 0

Kano Technologies adds SATA II performance to their portfolio of innovative storage products with the X-SPAND PRO, a family of external SATA II storage systems with up to 1.6TB of high performance storage. Along with increased throughput, the X-SPAND PRO fully utilizes the potential of next generation SATA II connectivity.

"SATA is the next logical step in the evolution of desktop storage. We are proud to introduce the most advanced external SATA desktop storage device using next generation, high performance SATA II technology," says Robert Young, Kano's National Sales Manager. "With the faster 3 Gb/s transfer rates of SATA II, ambitious desktop video storage projects are achieved more efficiently and error-free. The X-SPAND PRO is a welcomed addition to our very popular X-SPAND storage family."

The X-SPAND PRO is ideal for use with the Apple G5 due to the G5's high-bandwidth system architecture. The X-SPAND PRO desktop towers include two or four next-generation SATA II removable drives as well as supporting SATA II cabling that can be striped as RAID-0 to serve DV, DVCAM, SD, and SD/RT. Four drives within the X-SPAND can be isolated as high performance media storage and the G5 internal SATA drive as the boot drive. The X-SPAND PRO alleviates the user's traditional limitations with external FireWire or USB storage and the result is unprecedented throughput for intensive video editing and media production.

The X-SPAND PRO will be offered as a removable two or four drive desktop tower system as well as a fixed four drive 1U rack mount model for enterprise level storage. The X-SPAND PRO boasts high performance SATA II disk drives, whisper quiet internal cooling fans, and the most compact four drive desktop footprint available. With four external SATA II channels, the X-SPAND PRO can be configured as a JBOD or striped with software RAID to increase throughput and performance. Through its SATA II ports, the X-SPAND is ready to be integrated into true SATA II desktop environments. X-SPAND kits are available with SATA II to SATA I conversion cables and a host adapter to allow for backwards compatibility with current SATA I desktop systems.

X-SPAND PRO systems will be available in February with multiple storage capacities that range up to 1.6TB. The X-SPAND PRO has a starting list price of $745.00.
