Kingston to support next-generation AMD Opteron processors in new line of memory modules
Kingston Technology has announced the ValueRAM DDR2 ECC and Registered ECC memory modules, the company's new memory technology supporting next-generation AMD Opteron processors.
The new memory modules leverage proven AMD64 technology with energy-efficient DDR2 memory and AMD PowerNow! technology capabilities to deliver stability, reliability and high performance, according to Kingston.
Kingston's ValueRAM DDR2 ECC and Registered ECC memories are capable of speeds of up to 667MHz. The ValueRAM DDR2 ECC and Registered ECC memory modules are currently available in 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB configurations to support high-end computing. Each module undergoes 24 hours of burn-in reliability testing, extensive dynamic testing and visual inspection.
"This is a significant development for Kingston, combining cutting-edge memory technology with the latest in processor development," said Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager at Kingston. "Kingston's ValueRAM DDR2 ECC and Registered ECC memory technology combined with next-generation AMD Opteron processors offers the perfect solution for consumers demanding leading price-performance, reduced operational costs and the best in processor and performance memory."
"Working closely with Kingston, AMD takes another step forward in addressing the demands for high quality, high performance memory technology among the growing server/workstation market," said Pat Patla, director for AMD's server/workstation marketing. "Next-generation AMD Opteron processors with Direct Connect Architecture provide a consistent, thermally-efficient roadmap that is critical for serving new generations of compute-intensive users, without compromising performance."
