VIA to launch new Nano CPU in 3Q09 and dual-core Nano before the end of 1Q10
According to DigiTimes, VIA is
VIA Technologies notified its partners that plans to launch the Nano 3000 series CPU in the third quarter of 2009, while engineering samples of a dual-core Nano CPU will be ready in the second half of 2009 with mass production scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2009 or the first quarter of 2010. The CPU will be manufactured under Fujitsu Electronics' 65nm process. The Nano 3000 CPU's specification is similar to that of Nano 1000 and 2000 with the major difference being that the CPU will support SSE4 instructions.
According to several website tests, the VIA Nano platform was faster than Intel Atom, so we think its great news for all users who wish an affordable and at the same time powerful mini-notebook. The mini-notebook platform has more news, since HP wants from Intel to lift any limits that they have with producing higher than 10.2" models, like Asus. Digitimes also reported that HP plans to introduce 11.6" and perhaps 13.3" mini-notebooks with Intel's Atom platform. We hope that they will also include Nvidia's Ion platform and making a perfect combination
