Lenovo Unveils Rugged ThinkPad Devices, New ThinkServers For Schools

Lenovo today announced at the Florida Education Technology Conference (FETC) the ThinkPad 11e series of laptops, the 1U ThinkServer RD340, the 2U ThinkServer RD440 and the ThinkServer TD340 two-processor servers. The ThinkPad 11e series is available in two form factors: traditional laptop or Lenovo's Yoga multimode form with four positions: laptop, tablet, tent and stand.

Features like rubber bumpers, reinforced ports, and stronger hinges are included to protect the system from the hustle and bustle of the classroom. The traditional laptop features a 11.6-inch HD LED antiglare screen. The ThinkPad Yoga 11e devices have an IPS wide viewing angle touchscreen displays. Each device is powered by an Intel processor.

Intel Education Software helps students develop skills through interactive applications and is optionally available for these devices. On the ThinkPad Yoga 11e, Yoga Modes in Lenovo Settings recognizes when the user switches modes and allows apps to adapt.

The ThinkPad 11e series of devices will be available this spring from Lenovo business partners and on www.lenovo.com. Pricing for the ThinkPad Yoga 11e and ThinkPad 11e models starts at $449. Pricing for the ThinkPad Yoga 11e Chromebook and ThinkPad 11e Chromebook models starts at $349.

ThinkServer RD340 and RD440

The 1U ThinkServer RD340 and 2U ThinkServer RD440 rack servers are equipped with the next-generation Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 series processors with up to 10 cores each and support up to 192GB of memory. Standard, built-in features include hot-swappable storage, integrated RAID and redundant power and cooling.

The ThinkServer RD440 supports up to 48TB of internal storage. Optional ThinkServer RAID adapters are available to provide additional RAID levels and performance.

Equipped with up to two Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 series processors, the ThinkServer TD340 packs performance and expandability in a tower form factor.

The ThinkServer TD340 includes enterprise reliability features and can be configured with hot-swap hard disk or solid-state drives, redundant power and integrated RAID, with the capability to add RAID performance-enhancing features.

The TD340 can be configured to support up to 192GB of memory, up to 32TB of internal storage, and has up to six available PCIe/PCI slots.

The ThinkServer RD340 and RD440 are available now and start at $1,179 and $1,439 respectively. The ThinkServer TD340 will be available in February.

ThinkServer SA120

The ThinkServer SA120 is a dense, rack-mountable direct attached storage enclosure for datacenter deployments, featuring both 2.5" and 3.5" drive bays in a single 2U enclosure.

A single ThinkServer SA120 DAS enclosure can be configured to support twelve 3.5-inch SAS high-capacity, front-panel drives and four optional rear-panel 2.5-inch SSD drives Servicing the SA120 is easy with tool-less hot swap components and shared parts from ThinkServer rack servers.

The ThinkServer SA120 will be available next month.
