LG To Release Universal Credit Card
Both Apple and Google have launched their mobile payment systems that use your phone, and Samsung launched one that can work with traditional card-swipe terminals. But LG is reportedly making a step further with a universal credit card. LG's card appears to have the a low-power display to let you know which card is active through a small display on the card, buttons to select them, and contacts to keep it charged up, according to ETnews. It will be called the "White Card", and the name "LG Pay" is printed on the card, as you see below.
So it LG Pay won't require a smartphone at all, as the "White Card" will replace all of your credit and debit cards.
According to the Korean report, LG Electronics has pre-ordered about 50,000 White Cards for White Card’s release. It is currently discussing with a South Korean Smart Card business about mass-production of White Card.
LG Electronics is currently testing payments with many VAN companies for payment linkage and is planning to introduce it at MWC 2016 that will be held next month in Barcelona, Spain.
Although LG Pay is going to support IC payment along with MS, LG Pay that will be introduced during first half will only support MS transactions.
Unlike Samsung Pay, card companies can manage everything on LG Pay since transactions do not go through LG Electronics' server, according to LG.
