- CD Format

The LiteON SOHW-1633S supports up to 48X reading speed for CD-R media and 24X for CD-RW media. Below are the transfer rate graphs, where we compare its performance against the other three drives:

As we can see from our tests, with CDR media the drive is faster with than both the ND-3500A and Philips DVDR1640P. Using CDRW media, the Philips' drive was the fastest while the LiteON and Sony drives were the slowest.

- DVD Format

With Single Layer media, the LiteON SOHW-1633S was the fastest drive in our tests, but speed differences were not significant, except in NEC's case, where the NEC drive was almost 1385kb/sec slower.

With DVD-R/+R media, the NEC ND-3500A was fastest, reaching 11.92X reading speed while all other drives were restrained to ~6.2X. With ReWritable media, the times between the drives is negligible.

In our DVD ripping test with a pressed DL movie, the LiteON had the fastest transfer rate, due to the SMART-X function it uses.
