Hong Kong based Minix has released a new miniPC / TV Box that comes with the latest Ubuntu version pre-installed and further improves many aspects of the popular Neo Z83-4 model, especially in terms of speed and storage. We have the chance to spend some hours with the new device and examine its performance in depth, and also compare it with the "older" Neo Z83-4 system.
Beginning with the basic features, the Neo Z83-4U is armed with Intel's Cherry Trail X5 Z8350 Quad Core processor, which offers higher clock speeds than the previous Z8300 chip. Below you see a comparison of the Neo Z83-4U with the Neo Z83-4:

It's interesting that the Neo Z83-4U will cost you not more than the Z83-4 model (Windows 10 Home Edition ), while having double the internal storage and a higher-clocked CPU. In theory, the Ubuntu version seems to offer a greater value for money, as it offers more in a compact overall system. In the following pages we will examine the peformance of the Neo Z83-4U.
