Motorola Apologizes For Problematic Cyber Monday Deals
Motorola CEO has apologized after plans to offer the Moto Maker and Developer Edition of the Moto X with a $150 discount were halted after the website was overwhelmed by traffic.
Dennis Woodside said that his company misjudged the overwhelming consumer demand for Moto X and that their pre-sale site testing was not "sufficiently extensive." And as soon as Motorola opened the promotion on Monday morning, a spike in concurrent orders caused Motorola's website to go down. W
The company will relaunch the the $349 promotion this Wednesday starting at 12 pm EST/9 am PST. Motorola will also add an additional promotional day on Monday, December 9. It will double the quantity of phones available, while supplies last, to allow as many people as possible to take advantage of the promotion. The comany is also extending the 30% off offer on accessories to these two days.
"On behalf of all Motorolans, I apologize for what occurred today. I appreciate your understanding as we get this fixed in time for Wednesday and Monday," Woodside added.
