Philips Rolls Out New DVD Recorders

Philips Rolls Out New DVD Recorders

Consumer Electronics Oct 25,2005 0

Philips? latest addition to its DVD recorders line includes two models incorporating Hard Disk Drives (DVDR3300H and DVDR7300H) along with a standalone recorder (DVDR3305). The DVDR7300H and DVDR3300H are equipped with 250GB and 80GB Hard Disk Drives respectively, each storing approximately 400 hours and 130 hours of footage. Any viewed programmes are automatically stored on the six-hour adjustable buffer and these can be retrieved for viewing, moved to the HDD itself or burnt to DVD+R/RW disc ? so you need never miss a programme, even if you forget to press record.

The HDD on both players also incorporates a number of features designed to ensure you never miss a piece of the action. When recording to the HDD, Flex Time provides time-shift functionality, allowing the user to watch a programme that is being recorded from an earlier point, while the recording itself continues uninterrupted. Thanks to Instant Replay you can immediately replay any exciting footage or any action briefly missed with the press of just one button, so you?ll never miss any action. Similarly, should viewing ever get interrupted, Pause Live TV lets you pause the programme and reconvene viewing at a later time.

In addition, any favourite recordings on the HDD requiring archiving to DVD+R/RW disc can be done so at high-speed with the DVD7300H and DVDR3300H offering x20 disc transfer. Furthermore, both players also offer Dual Layer DVD+R disc recording, doubling the recording capacity.

The DVDR7300H also benefits from the GUIDE Plus+ Interactive Programme Guide, which provides 7-day channel listings, completely free of charge.

Furthermore, in offering infrared control of a separate set top box, owners of Freeview or Sky boxes can easily control and record from the respective platforms.

Both players are equipped with i.Link, enabling digital copies from devices such as camcorders, cameras and PCs, two RGB Scarts, while the DVDR7300H also sports HDMI connectivity.

The entry-level DVDR3305 records up to six hours on both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs, offering four preset recording modes. In addition to Dual Media DVD disc support, the DVDR3305 also plays music and photos on CD-R/RW discs. With discs containing both MP3 and JPEG images, the DVDR3305 even lets the user enjoy photos in slideshow mode with suitable musical accompaniment.

To ensure accurate timer recording, the DVDR3305 utilises VIDEO Plus+ and PDC, while also allowing up to eight scheduled programmed recordings up to a month in advance.

Both DVDR3305 and DVDR3300H are available in Europe now, for 220 euros and 440 euros respectively. The DVDR7300H is expected at the market in November.
