DVR-S706 uses 40x CAV reading strategy for CD-DA. Below you can see the results from the CDSpeed transfer rate test with a pressed audio CD:
According to Nero CDSpeed, the average reading speed was 31.04x, while at the end of the reading process it reached a maximum speed of 41.28x. The seek times are also good, although the full seek time is a little high.
When using a pressed AudioCD and its CD-R copy, with EAC, we logged the following results:
The DVR-107D was slightly faster than the DVR-S706 with these test discs. As EAC reports, the drive caches DAE, supports accurate stream but can`t report C2 error information.
- Advanced DAE Quality
The Pioneer DVR-S706 received a score of 100 (perfect) in the Nero CD Speed Advanced DAE test. CDSpeed showed that the average reading speed is 26.61X, and that the drive supports reading CD Text but doesn`t support Leadin / Leadout data, CD read subchannel data and best, on the fly copying occurs at 4x speed.
