Ricoh Sues ASUS, and QSI For Optical Disc Patent Infringement
Ricoh claims that Taiwanese Quanta Storage (QSI) and ASUSTeK Computer are violating some of its patents related to CD-RW and DVD+RW that Ricoh owned, bringing the case to the US District Court, Western District of Wisconsin.
Ricoh said that the Taiwanese makers of CD and DVD drives have violated four patents, including one related to the recording and reproducing procedure for performing a formatting process in the background in rewritable discs. The company claimed that the patent violation in QSI and Asus drives have been confirmed.
Ricoh asks for compensation for the damages of the patent violation act.
Both QSI and Asus have refused to negotiate with Ricoh before the case reach the court.
