Roxio's Toast supports Panasonic DVD-RAM/R drive
"...Adaptec spinoff Roxio and Panasonic today announced that Roxio's popular Mac CD mastering software, Toast 5 Titanium, supports Panasonic's new DVD-RAM/R drive. The combination enables MAc users to record to rewritable DVD discs and DVD-R discs as well. Unlike Apple's Pioneer-built "SuperDrive," the new Panasonic mechanism is a dual-technology drive. It supports DVD-R media, which can then be used for playback in most DVD players, but it also uses DVD-RAM media, which can be used and reused for general storage purposes.
Roxio indicates that Toast 5 Titanium includes the necessary software to edit and store video and digital photos on DVD-R discs, which can then be played back on consumer DVD decks. Toast 5 Titanium is already shipping, and carries a suggested retail price of $99.95. Panasonic said the DVD-RAM/R drive will begin shipping to OEMs and channel partners in the second quarter. The suggested retail price is less than $1000..." NULL
