Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition Coming In The U.S.
Samsung's Gear Innovator Edition for S 6, compatible with both the Samsung Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 edge, will be available for preorder starting Friday, April 24 at BestBuy.com, and available for purchase online at Samsung.com/GearVR and BestBuy.com on Friday, May 8. The addition of Gear VR Innovator Edition for Galaxy S 6 to the Gear VR lineup means that three of Samsung's best-selling smartphones can now be used as VR devices to deliver captivating 360-degree content.
Featuring the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 edge 577 ppi and Quad HD Super AMOLED displays, users can view videos, short films, games and other content on the Gear VR like never before and with less pixelation.
Samsung has reduced the size of the unit, which also has redesigned straps, improved airflow and a built-in fan for better ventilation, making it even more comfortable to wear.
With a new octa-core, 64-bit processor, the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 edge allow for more computing power, better graphics and more efficient battery usage ? giving users a more robust VR experience.
The Oculus Store gives users access to a library of regularly updated VR content, including the free and paid games, apps and videos created exclusively for Gear VR.
Last but not least, Samsung?s Milk VR delivers 360-degree videos with new content debuting daily. Videos, from channels in music, sports, action, lifestyle and more, are available in both Instant Play (adaptive streaming) and Best Quality (download in the highest quality available, 4K x 2K).

In related news, Samsung is giving members of its global developer community early access to the Software Development Kit (SDK) of its next generation Gear device with a wrist watch design.
This marks the first time that Samsung has released its wearable SDK for third-party developers in conjunction with the design and construction of its device before the product launch.
To join the program, developers must register at the Samsung Developer?s website and become a member of the community. Once the application is submitted with the terms and conditions agreed, it will be sent to Samsung and the applicant will be notified through email of verification status along with the SDK technical resources.
Samsung's new version of its Gear smartwatch will probably has a round face, according to images showed by the company. Samsung also listed several partners, including Baidu Inc, Yelp Inc and CNN.
The S. Korean company has launched six smartwatches since 2013 to build an early lead in the nascent market, but sales have been modest.
