Sony Japan announces DVD-R/RW recorder
Sony Japan announced today a new stand alone DVD-R/RW recorder with the codename "RDR-A1". It supports both the DVD-R and DVD-RW format and of course can playback DVD-ROM format. The drive's price isn't yet announced and it will hit the Japan market at 21 of September 2001. Sony will ship also DVD-R and DVD-RW media at the same time capable of recording up to 120minutes DVD quality video. As it seems Sony will support both DVD-RW (in Japan) and DVD+RW formats (rest of the world).
