Sony has released in its home country Japan a new hybrid speaker attached beneath a TV remote. Sony's SRS-LSR100 is a TV remote grafted onto the top of a speaker, designed to enable customers to move away from the screen, for housework or cooking for example, while still being able to control their TV.

This speaker/remote measures 179mm x 28mm x 71mm, weighs in at under 450g, and has an estimated battery life of 16 hours.

The SRS-LSR100 will be released in Japan on September 12, and will go on sale for around $165.
