Super Mario Run is the first Super Mario Bros. game developed specifically for mobile devices. In the game, Mario runs forward on his own, but relies on the tap of a single finger to jump over obstacles, avoid enemies, pull off stylish moves, collect coins and reach the flagpole to complete courses.
Eventually, the new game can be downloaded in a total of 151 countries and regions.
Nintendo aims to catch up with rival firms in the smartphone game market by having Mario and other signature characters in its popular Super Mario game series show up in a smartphone game for the first time.
It is unclear when Nintendo will make the game available to users of devices running on Google’s Android operating system.
