Our testbed for this test was the following:

  • CPU: Intel E6750 Retail
  • CPU Cooler: Akasa AK-965
  • Case: ThermalTake Soprano
  • Motherboard: Asus Blitz Extreme Bios 0904
  • Memory: 2x1GB SuperTalent DDR3-1600CL7
  • PSU: OCZ 720W
  • HDD: WD 80JB (WindowsXP)
  • HDD: WD Raptor 36GB (Test HDD)
  • Operating system Windows XP with all the latest updates installed
  • Software: PCMark 05 v1.2.0
  • Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (TAT) & CoreTemp 0.95.4
  • Thermal Paste: Arctic Cooling TX-2
  • Case fan rpm: 1250 rpm (full speed)

The first test included applied a continous task to the WD Raptor 36GB HDD using PCMark 05 advanced testing. Two sets of HDD tests ran continously. At the same time, we produced the maximum heat from the processor in order to increase the temperature inside the case using Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool. We measured the HDD temperatures via Everest Ultimate Edition 2007 with and without the Titan RTNV HDD cooler installed. After several hours we come to our final results:

The Titan TTC-HD90 proved to be efficient and dropped the overall temperature of WD Raptor 36GB down to 34 celcius, from the non-cooling condition of 40 celcius.

- Summary

The Titan TRNV HDD cooler is definitely a useful product, especially for all those who generally overload their PCs and need an additional protection against excessive heat that occurs inside the box. For sure, the cooler's design is quite straigh forward making it easy to be installed.

Proceeding to the test results we saw that there is a difference either in temperatures or noise with and without the Titan HDD cooler installed.

The Titan RTNV HDD cooler (TTC-HD90) is a very smart and simple add-on to your PC configuration. It currently retails for around €37, which is a relatively high price, but it worths its money.
