Updated Rasperri Pi Runs at 1GHz

Updated Rasperri Pi Runs at 1GHz

PC components Sep 20,2012 0

Raspberry Pi, a tiny computer that has struck a chord with the programmers around the world, is getting an overclocking upgrade from Raspberry Pi Foundation. With the new "turbo mode" feature, you can now choose from one of five overclock presets, the highest of which runs the ARM at 1GHz. The feature dynamically enables overclock and overvolt under the control of a cpufreq driver, without affecting your warranty.

Comparing the new image with 1GHz turbo enabled, against the previous image at 700MHz, nbench reports 52% faster on integer, 64% faster on floating point and 55% faster on memory.

However, it depends whether or not your particular Raspberry Pi can handle the 1GHz overclock option. As per the Rasperri statement, it depends on the type of Raspberry Pi you have as well as its power supply.
