Users can Identify Songs and Purchase Music using almost any Mobile Phone and Network

Consumer Electronics Jul 29,2004 0

MusiKube, a leading developer of mobile music recognition and discovery solutions, today announced an agreement with m-Qube to deliver MusiKube's service to the more than 157 million U.S. wireless subscribers.

m-Qube provides world-class media, marketing and entertainment companies with the most comprehensive mobile delivery technology available in the market today. MusiKube's service enables consumers to identify music through their mobile phone and connect to a mobile music marketplace where they can purchase songs, ringtones and related content. As a result of the agreement MusiKube's service will be the first of its kind accessible by over 93% of the wireless subscribers in the U.S. The service will be in beta trials later this summer.

MusiKube's audio recognition service turns everyday mobile phones into music capture and discovery devices by allowing consumers to identify music whenever it is heard. Consumers simply dial a toll-free phone number and hold their phone near the music for 10 seconds. Once a song has been identified through the service, consumers can open links and listen to song samples, receive recommendations, share the information with their friends, and buy related products, such as ringtones, 'truetones' and digital downloads - directly on their mobile device. A full list of all identified songs and albums can also be viewed, sampled and purchased from the MusiKube Website along with related products such as monophonic, polyphonic and 'true tones' ringtones through MusiKube's fulfillment partners.

"MusiKube's service is the most robust solution of its kind - offering consumers an innovative way to use their mobile phones not only to identify the music they hear, but also to buy ringtones, images, and more directly through the MusiKube service," said Andrew Miller, Senior Vice President of Business Development of m-Qube. "We are pleased to team with such an innovative company and to enable them to leverage our extensive carrier relationships for the delivery of this truly unique and compelling service."

"m-Qube gives us the unrivaled reach and range and premium billing that enables us to bring an exciting new capability to wireless subscribers using virtually any handset and mobile network," said Mike Pears, COO of MusiKube. "At last, when people hear songs they like they will be able to immediately capture and act on that interest to purchase songs, albums and related content, all from their mobile phone."

m-Qube makes it easy for companies to capitalize on the opportunity presented by the wireless market by providing the technology and services to deliver mobile applications across the North American wireless carriers. The company solves for its customers all of the complicated aspects involved in delivering mobile messages, content, applications and billing for content and services across different carriers using a diverse set of handset technologies. m-Qube has developed a unique and leading Mobile Application Platform (MAP) capable of supporting any message and content based application using high productivity tools; a white label mobile storefront and routing technology allowing for standard and premium billed SMS, WAP and MMS content.
