VIA K8N800A chipset for notebooks
VIA Technologies announced the VIA K8N800A low-power core-logic chipset with integrated graphics processor incorporated with the northbridge.
The chipset is optimized for AMDs upcoming Turion 64 mobile technology, as well as the complete range of Mobile AMD Athlon 64 and Mobile AMD Sempron processors.
The VIA K8N800A chipset features the S3 Graphics UniChrome Pro Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP), providing dual-pipeline graphics performance through a 128-bit 2D/3D engine and shared DDR memory support for 3D gaming and applications, while the Chromotion CE Video Display Engine blends hardware-based MPEG-2 decoding acceleration for digital video playback with advanced display technologies for enhanced video rendering and a rich visual experience. Support for an external AGP8x port allows optional graphics processor upgrades on supporting notebooks.
The VIA K8N800A, part of the VIA K8-Series of chipsets, is the latest in a long line of chipsets for AMD processor powered notebooks, building on the architecture of the VIA K8N800 chipset and adding support for AMD Turion 64 mobile technology and a host of new power saving technologies, such as Stutter Mode, to ensure more efficient IGP core performance and longer battery life.
The VIA K8N800A chipset is available now.
