New "SkipDR AutoMax" Recovers Data From Scratched CDs/DVDs

Optical Storage May 17,2005 0

If your favorite Pearl Jam CD, PlayStation game or DVD movie is skipping, freezing or just won't play, you can restore it to good-as-new shape with SkipDR AutoMax - a new desktop "doctor" from Digital Innovations that repairs disc scratches in 60 seconds. According to the company's press release, the recovering procedure is quite simple: Just spray the ailing disc with the resurfacing fluid included in the package, slip it into the slot toaster-style, and the motorized radial wheel will automatically remove a microscopic layer of plastic on the playside while leaving the contents intact. Dry and shine the disc with the special cloth and buffing square provided, and you?ll have a like-new CD or DVD without the skipping, freezing or booting problems that otherwise would have doomed it to the trash.

Slightly larger than a computer speaker, the patented SkipDR AutoMax is fully automated. It turns on, loads, spins, repairs, ejects and shuts off automatically; has built-in storage compartments for housing the resurfacing fluid, drying cloth and buffing square; and can run on DC power or six AA batteries.

It can be used to repair surface scratches or abrasions on any kind of disc from music, movie and game titles to CDs or DVDs containing irreplaceable photos, indispensable software programs, or years of work. The patented radial resurfacing wheel repairs up to 50 discs and can be replaced for $12.99 (MSRP).

SkipDR is also available in a manual, hand-cranked model called the SkipDR Advanced (MSRP $29.99) that uses the same patented technology to repair scratches without the automated features of the AutoMax version.

SkipDR AutoMax and SkipDR Advanced will be available from more than 30,000 retail outlets including Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples and Blockbuster Video stores or online at www.digitalinnovations.com.
