JVC Develops Technologies for Next-generation Optical Wireless Access System
JVC has developed two base technologies for a next-generation optical wireless access system.
The develpment is a collaboration of the japanese company with the Faculty of
Infrastructural Technologies of Hiroshima International University and the Graduate School
Engineering of Osaka University under the sponsorship of the National Institute of
Information and Communications Technology (NICT).
The first technology is an ultra small optical wireless module, smaller than 1/100 the size of conventional modules. The module supports full-duplex communications at 1Gbps or faster, supporting various formats. The module also complies with the IEC60825-1 Class 1 laser safety standard to ensure safety to the eye.
The second technology enables the wireless system to automatically choose between optical transmission and radio transmission, depending on application environments.
These technologies are currently exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2005 held in Makuhari Messe from October 4 to 8.
