Panasonic Ships Ultra-slim DVD Supermulti Drive
Panasonic has started shippments of a new DVD Supermulti drive for notebooks, featuring a thicknes of just 7mm.
The drive continues Panasonic tradition in the development of slim internal DVD burners for OEMs. The Japanese company released the first 12.7mm in 1998 and 9.5mm drives in December of 2003. The currently available 7mm drive also weigh just 99gr.
The new drive supports writing of seven types of the DVD and CD formats (3x DVD-RAM, 8x DVD-R, 8x DVD+R, 4x DVD-RW, 4x DVD+RW, 16x CD-R and 16x CD-RW) and of course reading of DVD-ROM and CD-ROM.
