Intel Ships New X58 Boards

Intel today launched two new X58 boards, the DX58SO2 and DX58OG. The DX58OG offers high data throughput and supports the Intel Core i7 processor Extreme Edition. SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus (USB) 3.0, SATA 6.0 Gb/s, triple channel DDR3 memory and full support for ATI CrossfireX and NVIDIA SLI technology are just a few of the many features supported on this board.

The X58 Express board has six 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets supporting DDR3 1600+ /1333 /1066 MHz DIMMs and up to 48 GB of system memory. It has also two x16 PCI Express slots, three x1 PCI Express slots and one PCI slot.

Intel HD Audio subsystem supports 6-channel (5.1 + 2 independent multi-streaming) audio with three analog audio outputs.

The Intel DX58SO2 board also supports the Intel Core i7 processor Extreme Edition, it has SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus (USB) 3.0, SATA 6.0 Gb/s, triple channel DDR3 memory and supports ATI CrossfireX and NVIDIA SLI technology.

Two USB 2.0 ports, six rear USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, Gigabit Ethernet and three audio jacks for 5.1-channel audio are part of the rear connectivity options. There are headers on the board for an additional six USB 2.0 ports as well as one FireWire port and the board also has six SATA 3Gbps and two SATA 6Gbps ports.

The DX58SO2 also adds a second Gigabit Ethernet controller and two eSATA ports, as well as an upgraded audio solution with support for 7.1-channel audio and optical S/PDIF out. The board also features a pair of buttons for adjust the base clock on the fly.
