MindGame Releases Mind Controll Apps

MindGame Releases Mind Controll Apps

Smartphones Apr 15,2011 0

Iceland-based MindGames, a developer of videogames which are controlled with the mind, have created two apps controlled and operated by mental available on sale in the Apple App Store. The first app is the "W.I.L.D." for iPad and iPhone. W.I.L.D. is an ongoing adventure in which players navigate waking dreams by "using their powers of meditation and attention. In order to tame the dream, you must tame your own mind," the company said in a statement. Players enter to find five dreams in which they control what happens with their levels of concentration and relaxation.

Players control what happens in W.I.L.D. using their levels of relaxation and concentration, which the PLX XWave headset ($99.99) records from the electric field given off by the player's brain activity. This technology is none other than a simplified, portable version of EEG technology, which has been used to record patients' brain activity in hospitals since the early 20th century.

The app is available on the App Store for $4.99 for a special period of 2-6 March.

The second app is the "Tug of Mind" for iPad and iPhone. Available since last December, the Tug of Mind "is a mental tug-of-war between the player and any opponents she chooses from her real life." Almost everyone has people in her life who put her off-balance, leaving her stressed after every time she interacts with them.

In Tug of Mind, the player can take or import a photograph of one of these people, turn that photograph into a realistic 3D head, and record a phrase which she imagines the owner of that head saying to her: "You're the worst hire I ever made." "You never do anything right." etc.

Then the tug-of-mind starts. The head looks stressed out and angry, and begins to yell the recorded phrase at the player, recreating to some extent the feelings of the real-life situation. Under this pressure, the player has to do the opposite of what she normally does in this situation: she must relax. If she relaxes enough, you see the opponent begin to look calmer and speak more softly, until at the end both the opponent - and the player - are calm and smiling. On the other hand, if the player gives in to her stress, both the head and the player end up stressed out, and the player has lost the tug-of-mind.

Tug of Mind was the first iPhone application which uses a mass-market brain-computer interface (EEG) headset as the primary interface. Currently, Tug of Mind and our upcoming games are compatible with the PLX XWave headset.
