BoM For iPhone 5 Is Estimated At $167.50
The bill of materials (BoM) for Apple's new iPhone 5 smartphone is extimated at $167.50, almsot $35 higher than a comparable version of the iPhone 4s.
According to a preliminary estimate by teardown specialists at TechInsights, iPhone 5's 4-inch Retina display (1136 x 640 - 326ppi,) its quad-core CPU and quad-core GPU A6 processor, the BB+XCR and the camera remain the most expensive components of the new device.
The IPhone 5, which is scheduled to go on sale Sept. 21, is expected to sell for about $199 for the 16GB version.
